Maxwell Logan, a.k.a., Max, strode happily down the road. He glanced at all the Pokemon about him, the ones sitting in the trees and the ones playing on the ground. He thought about sending out Cyndaquil and attacking one, but he was in too good of a mood to battle. He glanced down at Cyndaquil's Pokeball. Red and white. He had decided. Cyndaquil was going to come out and enjoy the fresh air, too.
Max threw the Pokeball high into the air where ie burst open and a white light shown from it. The white light slowly took the appearance of a small blue and yellow mouse-like Pokemon. The Pokemon let out a big yawn, before saying "Cyndaquil." The small Pokemon glanced up towards Max. It shouted out a joyous "Cyndaquil" before starting to scamper about around Max in wide circles. It continued to say "Cyndaquil" until it was tired and collasped onto the ground.
Max sighed. Cyndaquil should stay in his Pokeball if he has that kind of energy, but it was a beautiful day not a rain drop or cloud in sight. He bent down and hoisted Cyndaquil onto his shoulder. Cyndaquil let out another joyous squeal of pride, before settling back down. It nustled its head underneath Max's chin. Max personally believed that it was annoying but Cyndaquil was going to be his best Pokemon so he had to endure it.
He stopped for a second. He thought he heard something. A loud and threatening growl from a Pokemon. He started to worry. Cyndaquil was tired and out of breath, he might be able to fight it off in hand-to-whatever combat, but even then what else could he do? He heard it again this time it sounded as if it was coming from Cyndaquil. He picked up Cyndaquil and held him in his hands. He heard the sound again this time it was definatly coming from Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil's stomach.
Max decided that he was also getting kind of hungry. He opened up his backpack and saw a limited amount of food. He should've grabbed more from his mother's house, before he ran away. HE thought about closing it back up, but it was a special day and Cyndaquil did look hungry. He took out a sandwich and split it into he hand one half to the grateful Cyndaquil, who gobbled it up quickly, he ate the other half himself. He got back up to continue his journey, Cyndaquil was at his feet.

[[Wow, really sorry about the month long wait... I kept forgetting this thread, and when I did remember, I'd get massive writer's block. Oh well, you definitely deserve a response by now...]]
A boy around 13 stood with his back to a tree, hiding himself from Max's sight. This boy was an observer and a battler. He sought opponents that he thought would put up enough of a challenge to entertain him. He pulled a small, red box from his pocket, a PokeDex. Flipping it open, he initiated the scan function with the press of a small, black button. The upper of the two screens flashed to a display screen. On it, information on Max's Cyndaquil's Level, current stamina, and power levels were at his icy fingertips.
The young man cracked a sly smile. Max's Cyndaquil was an excellent battle candidate. Now he just needed the proper approach. He drew one of the six Poke Balls that dangled from his belt. Through the translucent top of the Poke Ball, a small, blue squid-like creature rested in a small pool of water. Tentacool. He would have a type advantage, but Max would have a terrain advantage. Tentacool doesn't battle well on land. "This should be interesting," the boy thought.
Stepping out from his shady hideout, the boy called out to Max. "Judging by that Cyndaquil of yours, I'd say your a fellow Trainer, no?" His voice was suave with a strong unidentifiable accent. Now that he was in sight, his features became visible. He had medium length, violet hair. His bangs curved diagonally across his forehead and over his left ear. A pair of oval spectacles adorned his face. His eyes were a gloomy lavender and glowed with determination. He was wearing a green long-sleeve shirt and a pair of khaki slacks.
"My name is Emil," he said and raised Tentacool's Poke Ball above his head. "I travel the lands looking for opponents that seem worthy of recognition. Though you appear to have just started, your Cyndaquil is an excellent specimen. He lowered his arm, still extended, until it was even with his shoulders. He cracked another smirk and declared, "I would be honored if you would battle me."

*Don't worry about it. Just log on more where you can take care of the RPG. Anyways nice to see again! P.S. I decided to take the color text idea!*
"Emil, huh,""Emil, huh," said Max. He looked at his faithful and brand new Cyndaquil. Despite this possibly being Cyndaquil's first battle. He looked uninterested. Cyndaquil's flame was unlit and on top of that somewhere during Emil's entrance he fell asleep. Max nudged Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil shook his head. His flames roared into action.
Max knew there no way he could possibly hold Cyndaquil back now. Cyndaquil was energetic and powerful. But still Cyndaquil didn't know any real attacks beyond tackle, smokescreen, and growl. Max decided it was time to act.
"Okay, me and Cyndaquil accept your challenge!" said Max. Cyndaquil nodded and raced in front of Max. The flames still lit in a blasting fury. Max was sure he made the right choice. He could barely make out Tentacool's shape in the Pokeball, but still how strong could it be? Anything below Cyndaquil's level and Max could definitely win.

[[Every day I tell myself I need to get off I disagree and respond to this thread, and every day I'm too much of a spoony bard to reply.]]
Emil cringed silently. He knew Tentacool was at a very low level, but he battled by a code. He drew a Poke Ball, and whatever was inside, he battled with. He glanced down at Tentacool. The clear blue jellyfish was raring to go. Max's Cyndaquil was also excited about the battle. It was time that he tested out Tentacool's strength on the battlefield.
Emil cast the red and white orb into the sky. The ball exploded in midair in a brilliant flash of white. The light condensed into the shape of an oversized box jellyfish. Blue, gelatinous flesh crawled over the figure, while two red orbs grew out of either side of its head. A smaller third gem appeared in the center of its massive cranium. The Pokemon appeared a bit clumsy on land, attempting to balance on its twin tentacles.
"I guess I'll start this thing!" cried Emil. "Tentacool, Constrict!" Tentacool lashed out with one of its tentacles and secured Cyndaquil within its grasp. It started to apply pressure, crushing Cyndaquil between the stinging cells in its tentacles. Emil cracked a small smile. He was off to a good start.

Max's heart pounded. He was so excited. His first Pokemon battle! His hands were sweaty, he couldn't wait for the battle against the gym leader, the time he will catch his first Pokemon. All of these things were exiciting to him he couldn't wait for any one of them. He wondered if Cyndaquil felt the same.
Cyndaquil! He forgot that Cyndaquil was still being constricted by Tentacool. He had to act fast. "Cyndaquil, start your fire!" shouted Max. Cyndaquil's back burst into flames. It started to sear Tentacool's tentacles. Max smiled his idea was going to work. Tentacool was either going to have to let go or have its tentacles burned off. It was a win-win.

[[Sorry, long, busy weekend.]]
By the way things were going, Emil thought that he might actually win the battle with one technique. This vision was shattered as Tentacool's grip on Cyndaquil began to loosen. The fire on the small echidna's back had ignited and was exploding in large infernos. Tentacool's tentacles were too sensitive to withstand the intense heat for long. If he didn't act fast, Tentacool would be seriously injured. Not only would its tentacles be severely burned, if Tentacool remained in that intense heat for too long, it could start to dry up.
Emil swore under his breath. "Tentacool! Retreat!" Emil cried. Tentacool immediately released its grip from Cyndaquil. It had escaped any major burns, but the wounds on its tentacles seared with pain. Emil clenched his fist and bit down on his lip. Cyndaquil's power level was a lot higher than he anticipated. He would have to rethink his strategy. Tentacool's strong point was getting in close and stinging the foe. Cyndaquil's inferno eliminated that as a possibility.
An idea hit Emil. If Cyndaquil was dazed, he would be open to a Poison Sting attack! "Tentacool, Supersonic attack!" Tentacool sat upright on the ground began emitting an ear-splitting cry. Emil himself could hardly bare to listen to it, even while holding his ears. The pure force of the sound waves sent Cyndaquil tumbling backwards. The amplitude of the sound left Cyndaquil's ears ringing and his head spinning. He could hardly see the battleground was having trouble hearing anything other than loud buzzes.

Max panicked. Cyndaquil's only real attack was Tackle, and while he couldn't see anything it was useless, he didn't want Cyndaquil tackling a tree. But he didn't want to lose this fight. He had to act fast, or he might not get a chance to act again.
An idea flashed to Max's head as long as Cyndaquil could hear him he could still win this thing. "Cyndaquil Smokescreen!" shouted Max. Cyndaquil stood there wobbling off balance. Max took in a deeper breath and shouted even louder "Cyndaquil, Smokescreen!" He was desperate to get through.
*I'm not sure if smokescreen would work, with Cyndaquil being dazed so I'll leave it up to you. And Suprsonic is one of the most annoying moves.*

[[Confusion causes self-attacks 50% of the time. Online random flipper says...TAILS! The attack is successful!]]
Emil watched in confidence as Max's Cyndaquil struggled to decipher his trainer's desperate orders. He was certain that the end of the battle was near already. Perhaps a lesson in pain was just what Cyndaquil needed to learn how to maintain control in battle. "Tentacool, Poison Sting!" Immediately, Tentacool lashed out with one of its powerful tentacles. Emil's smirk quickly faded to a grimace. Max's command had penetrated his wall of Confusion. "darn it all! was all Emil managed to utter before a blast of searing smoke exploded from Cyndaquil's maw.
Tentacool was suddenly enveloped in a thick cloud of burning smoke. Its sight was limited and the pain was intense. With the combined obstacles of the Smokescreen and Cyndaquil's Ember, Emil had no choice but to call on his last resort. "Good luck burning Tentacool while it's raining," Emil thought. He'd have to make the call quickly, before Cyndaquil recovered and decimated Tentacool. "Tentacool! Rain Dance!".
Within the confines of the Smokescreen, Tentacool began performing an elaborate ritual dance. Before long, light drops of rain could be felt falling from the sky. Not being a man to fool Mother Nature unhanded, Emil pulled a long, slender stick from his travel bag that was resting on the ground at his feet. The stick opened up into an umbrella just in time to shield him from the approaching downpour. The droplets of hydration came as a relief to Tentacool, numbing some of the pain from the smoke's temperature. Cyndaquil was definitely being given a run for his money.

Max couldn't make out either Pokemon in the smoke. He thought for a moment then smiled. Chances are that Emil couldn't make out either Pokemon as well. Time to attack! "Cyndaquil, tackle!" Cyndaquil could see in smoke better then both Max and chances are Emil.
Cyndaquil froze where he was standing. He quickly searched the smoke for Tentacool. Finally Cyndaquil located Tentacool. Cyndaquil dashed forward and put his entire weight behind the tackle.

Cyndaquil appeared unperturbed by the downpour. The frigidity of the rain collided with the heat of the smoke and ash, forming steam that further blocked Emil's limited view. Emil swore under his breath. Cyndaquil still had Tackle, and that was all he needed at the moment to win. He was beginning to regret not teaching Tentacool Bubblebeam earlier on. It would have made this match an easy win. How human of him. He was better than this. He shouldn't be losing. What was distracting him from netting an easy victory?
Emil's thoughts were interrupted as Max barked out an order to Cyndaquil. Just as he had feared, Cyndaquil was preparing a Tackle. Cyndaquil was surely adept at locating enemies in smoke, he feared. Tentacool would have to be prepared. Emil quickly lost sight of Cyndaquil as he disappeared into the cloud of smoke and steam, obviously searching for the target of his attack. "Tentacool! Cyndaquil will attack any second now! Prepare to use Poison Sting!"
Tentacool's tentacles took on a violet aura as it readied itself for a counterattack. Tentacool tensed every muscle in its body, keeping a steady eye on the front and flanks, but he didn't have eyes on the back of his head... Cyndaquil hurled its entire weight straight into the back of Tentacool's gelatinous body. Tentacool was sent hurdling out of the cloud and into the open rain. Emil swore again. Things didn't look good. He should have known that Cyndaquil would attack his blind spot. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid!
Tentacool lay motionless for a few seconds before shaking off the rough collision. Emil desperately ordered Tentacool to use Supersonic. Tentacool let out a hoarse cry. It was too weak to reach the necessary pitch. Frustrated, Emil commanded him to use Poison Sting. Tentacool lashed out toward Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil jumped over the attack, but the stinger nicked the tip of his foot and flipped him onto the ground. The impact was light and Cyndaquil appeared virtually unharmed.

Max smiled. Emil was losing his cool and as of right now losing the match. He decided to drice the match home. "Cyndaquil run back into the smoke!" Cyndaquil ran back into the smoke. Max made a quick mental note of this. He was beginning to get predictable. Only thing he knew right now is that himself, Emil, and Tentacool couldn't see through the smoke, but Cyndaquil could.
Max quickly noted that all attacks other Poison Sting was close range. If Tentacool was going to attack. It had to attack in the smoke. On top of that Poison Sting was so small it couldn't hit all of the smoke, which Cyndaquil could be. Anywhere within his smoke fortress.
Cyndaquil! Get ready for a tackle attack! Launch as soon as you hear Emil give a command! shouted Max. If Cyndaquil performed this correctly. It may get stung once or twice but being faster then Tentacool and being anywhere in the smoke, Tentacool was helpless. Better yet, if Emil gave out one command to flush Cyndaquil out and another command to attack, Tentacool might get confused and do the wrong command.

[[My monitor has a newfound habit of not working correctly when I want it to. I can only post when it's not exhibiting this extreme douchebaggery.]] Emil was infuriated at the current match statistics. He was an excellent trainer, but he made the mistake of leaving the Pokemon he battle with to chance. The luck of the draw hadn't been with him, and he had drawn a Pokemon he had just captured. But he always honored the draw. "Sandslash would've made short work of Cyndaquil." In fact, nearly any of his other Pokemon would have been way out of Cyndaquil's league. Tentacool was the black sheep. He didn't even have a single water-type attack. Max ordered Cyndaquil to reenter the smoke. "What's he thinking..?" Emil watched as Cyndaquil hustled back into the ominous haze, kept alive by the steam from the rain. he quickly lost sight of the little Pokemon. Max was up to something.. "Cyndaquil! Get ready for a tackle attack! Launch as soon as you hear Emil give a command!"That was it! "He's more foolish than I thought. He's just given away his entire action plan. Does he really think I'll attack after he plans to counter anything I try?" Max's counter plan would give him a few extra seconds to think before he would probably order Cyndaquil to abort the stall plan and attack directly, catching him off guard. He wasn't about to let that happen. An idea hit Emil. When he first caught Tentacool not long ago, the PokeDex told him that Tentacool is able to shoot mysterious beams of light from its eyes. This light would be reflected and refracted by the millions of drops of water making up the steam cloud, as well as the water still falling from Rain Dance. The luminous flash would be more than enough to temporarily blind Cyndaquil and allow Tentacool to get a powerful Poison Sting attack in. "Tentacool, Flash!" Tentacool responded affirmatively. Tentacool began focusing light on the tiny orb in the center of its massive forehead. Cyndaquil acted on Emil's command and rushed toward Tentacool. It slung itself toward the bulbous squid and was met with a brilliant flash of blindingly white light. The Flash threw off Cyndaquil's balance, weakening the impact of the Tackle tremendously. When Cyndaquil regained itself, it found a new problem. It couldn't see a thing! Emil wasted no time in ordering Tentacool to execute Poison Sting. Tentacool immediately lashed out with glowing tentacles, hitting the newly blinded echidna with amazing force. Cyndaquil was sent flying, but regained itself in midair and stuck the landing. It was blind, not crippled. Emil met Max's eyes and confidently uttered, "Your move."[[How will Max escape this one? Don't worry, that's all the dirty tricks left up Emil's sleeve. Everything from here should be straightforward.]] Tentacool: 13/22 Cyndaquil: 15/24 ~Temporarily Blinded

"Good move," shouted Max. Max was too into the match. He was more focused on having fun and enjoying the match too actual focus on winning the match. "Time to even the odds! Cyndaquil Somescreen once more!" Cyndaquil's mouth gaped open and large amounts of smoke bellowed from its mouth. Soon the field was covered in a thick and heavy smoke.
Max had to think of a new choice. Tackle was too close range and if Cyndaquil misses, he would be left open for an attack. Another smokescreen would be stupid, it would get him from point A to point A. He needed another move. But Cyndaquil doesn't have any other moves. Or does he?
Max's mind jumped to what he had learned about Cyndaquil. All of a sudden he remembered something and he cursed himself for being so ignorant. "Cyndaquil, let's wrap it up with your secret move! Cyndaquil leer!" Two glowing yellow eyes emerged from the smoke. They blinked off. A few moments later two other yellow eyes emerged a few feet over. They soon disappeared again. Max felt almost like he felt it as Tentacool's defense dropped whenever they eyes flashed.

[[Finally fixed that stupid monitor problem. There should be no more deadness from me for a long while now.]]
Emil watched as Cyndaquil shrouded the field in another thick layer of smoke. Was Max using the same technique again? Surely he wasn't that foolish. Inside the smoke cloud, Tentacool remained in place, helplessly lost in the sea of blackness about him. Emil would need to think of something before Max made a move.
"Cyndaquil leer!" Max's commanded echoed through the smoke cloud. A pair of glowing yellow eyes slowly faded in and out before Tentacool. Tentacool struck at the eyes, but they vanished from sight, and Tentacool's attack did not connect. The eyes reappeared again farther to the right. Tentacool lashed out again, missing once more as the eyes disappeared. Tentacool was trapped in a nightmare. The stare of the glowing eyes deeply perturbed him, throwing off his coordination. A well timed attack would devastate Tentacool.
On the outside, Emil was worried about Tentacool. He knew that Leer was an attack that was meant to spook the opponent into lowering their guard. This would prove deadly for Tentacool if he didn't do something. Emil swore under his breath. He knew that Max had the clear advantage. Their was hardly a thing he could do now. "Tentacool, stay still and keep your guard up! Don't strike unless you are stricken!

*Nice to have you back Crater. Smokescreen rocks!*
Max had to think of a way to take Tentacool out fast. If Cyndaquil was poisoned this match might not end in their favors. Supersonic and Poison Sting were the only real moves that he felt threatened by. Cyndaquil's leers probably made it where a good well-aimed tackle attack might finish Tentacool off, probably not, but it still might.
Max had to act quickly who knew how long the smokescreen will last. He made up his mind he had to go for it. "Cyndaquil, hit him with your Tackle Attack!" shouted Max. Cyndaquil launched himself from his spot and put all of his weight behind the tackle attack.
Max smiled if he wins or doesn't this was still a great match. But he still wanted to win.

[[....So, after four friggin' months, this topic finally ends....]]
Emil felt a bead of sweat slowly slide down his face as Max commanded Cyndaquil to charge one more time at Tentacool. It had long since stopped raining, and the heat of the smoke did nothing to help his stress. The attack was a gamble for both of them. Tentacool could be finished in one hit if timed correctly, but if it missed, Cyndaquil would pay dearly. It all came down to Cyndaquil's ability.
Cyndaquil tensed his muscles and leapt toward Tentacool with great force. Putting all of his weight behind it, he launched a massive Tackle attack, hitting Tentacool directly for a critical hit! Tentacool was sent soaring out of the smoke and onto the ground. Just as Emil had feared, the attack had devastated Tentacool, and he was in no condition to do further battle. He queitly drew a Pokeball from his belt and withdrew Tentacool. Emil knew he had lost. He had suffered his first loss in many months. Yet, strangely, he didn't feel angry. He suddenly felt happy. Happy that he no longer had a streak to continue. Happy that he could once again enjoy the spirit of Pokemon battling for the fun of it, not to devestate his opponents.
He looked up at Max and cracked a warm smile. "Thank you. I can once again enjoy Pokemon battling for what it really is, an enjoyable sport." He turned to leave, but took one last look and said, "It won't be so easy the next time."
Cyndaquil has gained four experience points.
[[Never again should a thread take this long to finish. Sorry for such a long wait.]]

*IT TOOK FOUR MONTHS! I thought it took a while to end it, but four months...wow.*
Max gracefully picked Cyndaquil and heaved him up onto his shoulder. The little red mouse let out a squeal of amusement before it rested his head onto Max's head. Max knew he looked like a fool, but hey he won his first Pokemon battle thanks to the little guy and there will be many more victories to come. Max moved on to the next city.
