Alright, technically, I have no power to do this, but since Admin died, Newhubb seems to have died, as well, and TD is gone until Monday and left me in charge, I'm going to lay down a few more rules.
I'm also going to hijack the FAQ because it is severely lacking in information.
Basically, this is how I figure the rules should look. Until TD returns, these are the standing RP rules. If they are accepted by TD when he gets back, we can just edit Admin's Rules topic with these:
Rule #1: Follow Pokemon Galaxy's Main Rules
- I cannot stress enough how important this rule is. If you are incapable of following the main rules of this forum, you have no place in the RP.
There are three rules that I would really like to stress:
Rule 1) Do not Double Post. Do not Double Post ever. If there is something else you wish to say, there's a magic little button next to the Quote button called Modify. This little guy can save you loads of trouble. Just click him and he'll take you to a magical interface that allows you to edit your post. It's magical.
Rule 2) Do not Spam. There are several instances where I have seen spam in threads. Sometimes it is meant as a joke which is not found funny by anyone but the poster; sometimes it is due to ignorance of the rules, which should never be the case. However, it is quite possible for it to be intentional, which is something I simply cannot allow.
Rule 3) Don't go off topic. If there is something you wish to say that is not part of the Roleplay, please do so above or below your Role Play post, and add either double brackets, [[like so]], or asterisks, *like so*. Which one you use is a matter of personal preference.
Rule #2: No Godmodding.
-Seems simple enough, right? Well, plenty of people don't seem to understand this. Godmodding means controlling things you have not been given permission to control. Things that would fall under this category in this RP would be: Important NPCs, such as a Professor, Nurse Joy, a Gym Leader; Wild Pokemon; the weather; etc. Killing Pokemon and people also falls into this category.
There are a few minor exceptions to this. Well, not really exceptions, but small grace periods. You may start off your thread with a description of the area, including the weather, but you cannot suddenly make it break out into a heavy rain in the middle of the thread. However, if your Pokemon possess(es) a move that alters the weather, you may do so as you wish.
Controlling minor NPCs that are likely to only be encountered once, such as a scientist in the Pokemon Lab, or a young boy in town, is acceptable.
You may also notice Wild Pokemon during your adventure, such as a group of Starly soaring by, or a Sentret gnawing on a berry it picked from a nearby tree. However, you may not arbitrarily engage in combat with a Pokemon of your choosing. At the moment, I am not sure whether TD actually has a method of choosing which Pokemon you fight, but for now, I'm going to assume that the Pokemon may be chosen arbitrarily by the Mod/Admin that is moderating your adventure thread.
One more thing that I should address about Godmodding. You cannot hit every single time. You cannot dodge every single attack. So, in other words, you are not perfect, and must be hit or miss your target sometimes.
I have RP'd with people who exercise Godmodding and I am sick of it. Any one who attempts to play God will have their thread deleted and receive a board warning of varied severity.
Rule #3: Make your posts legible and grammatically correct.
-No one wants to moderate a thread they can't read. If you want a reply to your thread, post with correct grammar, and under no circumstances should you ever Role Play in Script Style, like so:
Player: *runs to lab*
Player: give me pkmn plz
Believe it or not, I have seen people RP like this. Not here, but I have seen it. It's a horrifying sight that will drive a man insane if he has to moderate a thread with nothing but script style RPing.
Rule #4: You must create a Trainer Profile before you post in the RP boards.
No one is allowed to post in the RP boards until they have created a Trainer Profile that has been accepted. Once the profile is accepted, you may begin your Role Play.
Rule #5: Role Play to the best of your ability and nothing more or less.
Don't write a novel if you can only squeeze a few sentences out of your actions. I'd rather read a paragraph of comprehensible and well-written content than a page of nothing more than repeating what you've already said. If you aren't able to fill an entire page with text, don't.
Rule #6: Have Fun.
If you're not enjoying the RP, it will show through your posts. If you're stuck on something, take a break and look for inspiration. Come back later, refreshed and ready to RP again.
